The Best Buy freestanding G 1022 dishwasher from Miele leaves very few noticeable watermarks on glasses for a sparkling finish. The wash is reasonably thorough and crockery comes out quite dry. But with the normal program taking nearly two and a half hours, it’s a little on the slow side. Using 19 litres per wash makes this one of the thirstier models on test, and energy consumption is fairly high too. However, it does have an energy saving program, and while this takes an extra 30 minutes, it uses almost five litres less water and a lot less energy. The grip on the door is a little small, which might make opening and closing a little tricky for large hands. Access to the filter is impaired somewhat by one of the spray arms, and as the filter is a single part that can’t be dissembled, it’s a little difficult to clean. Loading and unloading is exceptionally easy, and the dispenser works effectively. It’s a bit noisy, but we don’t consider the sound to be too intrusive. The controls are easy to set and intuitive, so you’re unlikely to need to refer to the manual. Pros: Very few watermarks, good wash and dry, very easy to load and unload.
